Pests multiplying in tank: how serious? how to cure...

Can pests run wild in your tank? FYI
Generally one aiptasia is not reason to run in panic or nuke a rock.
Generally, if your tank does not have an oversupply of something a pest likes, it won't multiply that fast. This is important to understand.

Conversely, if something IS multiplying out of all reason, you have a deeper problem than the pest. Your tank is charged with way too much of something. It may be your skimmer is under-performing re your tank size. It may be...

Old live rock

I have like 40 pounds of old live rock sitting out in the yard from like 5 years ago and wanted to know if I could use it for a second tank I want to make witch is a 29 gallon eclipse should I just rinse it off and put it in and let it cycle?
Ps it was pretty dirty when I broke the tank down.

The humbug damsel

My quirky, buzzing, cloud-making damsel showpiece...
I love damsels. My favorite tank is a damsel reef. I'm pretty good at it. I don't have nipped fins or the like---and one of the keys, I think, is, a) keep it to one of a kind and b) figure there's 'one ring to rule them all...' or, there will be a boss damsel, and some species are more apt than others to take that role.

My dark lord of the tank is actually a golden onespot dascyllus---size and shape about that of the smaller...

Red Sea Reefer 350 Log Startup

Sep 29: Tank wet. 40 lbs Walt Smith Reef Rock 2.0 Nano dry. 2 bags Tropic Eden reef flakes sand. Transfer 10 lbs live rock from old tank. Remount 7 sps frags and transfer royal gramma and green chromis. Transfer cryptic fuge rocks and siporax and denitrate from old tank. Add Smartstart bacteria.

Reef Octopus skimmer, BRS GFO reactor, BRS rox carbon, poly filter, Kent reef salt, ATI 48" 8 bulb T5.
