Yes 3.5 years before you notice something wrong is a tad far fetched. You should already have replaced several filters by then and to not notice that that the membrane was missing or a spike in nutrients is odd.

You have to think outside the box. From the vendor standpoint you past your statute of limitation, most units don't warrant out that long anyways 3.5 years. Its a bit shady to come after a business 3.5 years later.

From the customer point of view, If what you said is true, i would come out in the open and address the issue, name the vendor, so others will not suffer the same fate. Thats all you can do for now.

And the moral of the story for us all is:

Check your RODI units throughly before you set it up.

honestly stating who the vendor is only adds fuel to the fire and shouldn't be divulged, both parties share the responsibility, I'm sure that if after a few months the company would've sent the missing part. however from the companies stand point it's hard to determine whether it was there in the first place. I have very little doubt in my mind that there was ever a membrane to start with but that's not the issue, realizing this 4 years later is.

I know we would all expect the company to help out by sending one for no charge but if they did, it'll be because they wanted to not because they had to. willing to work with you is probably the best compromise.

However, I believe I bought my replacement membrane for $30 shipped. so unless yours is a unique membrane you can probably find it cheaper somewhere else.

Take the discounted membrane.

I replace my membrane every 12-18 mos...so you should have figured this out a long time ago if you were properly maintaining the unit...

Why are you replacing it so often?
