montipora and 7.8 ph
everyone I just had to question about the and some corals I have. My parameters are as follows
ph-7.8, salinity-1.024, ammonia-0 PPM, nitrites-0 ppm, nitrates-2-4 ppm, calcium-520 ppm, alkalinity- 8 phosphate-0 ppm I've had the tank running for about 3 months now and montipora, green star polyp. Ive had all of them for about 1 1/2 months now except the about 1 1/2 months now except the GSP. I've had the gsp for 3 weeks now. When I put in the montipora it was a very nice light Orange but after a week or so it turned brown and seems like its not growing. It still slimes up so I'm thinking its still living. My question is what could I be doing wrong? The montipora in the. Lfs is orange while mine is brown. I used to see the little tiny polyps on it come out but not anymore since it has turned brown, I don't even see white edges indicating new growth. Could this because my ph isn't 8.2-8.4? Help me out guys Ive been racking my brain as to what it could be but cant figure it out. |
What kind of lights do you have???
What kind of lights were they under???? |
What time did you test your pH? pH is best watched with a constant use monitor, it changes throughout the day and is amongst other things a CO2 indicator, I can see more than a .2 swing minutes after firing up a couple burners, and the oven on my range. About the plating monti, sps are finicky corals many things influence their happiness; I'm a bit concerned that it is slimming up, it should only do that if its being stressed.

I have a t5 4 light vho fixture about the same as lfs 2 actinic blues and 2 12,000 k, lfs had 2 10,000 k. I tested yesterday around 2pm and it was 8.0 but only because of no water change 4 about 3 weeks. I was doing them every two weeks but ph would always stay below 7.8 now it swings from 7.8 to 8.0. The montipora only slime up when I touch them or move them which isn't much. I havent glued them any where yet until i can figure out whats going on. I have 3 koralia circulation pimps going, could that be too much current?
