prop tank equipment questions

I'm setting up a 40br prop tank 36x18x17. I have a question about lighting and skimming, the tank will mainly be sps with a few zoas and acans.

What would be a better lighting choice and why?
Tek elite 6x39 from reefgeek w/ quality bulbs. Or
Hellolights 8x39 Retro 15% overrdriven w/ tru bulbs (will it fit? Worth having tru bulbs and upgrade to ati in the future?)

Skimmer:
Deltec mce300 hob. Or
Equally priced in sump?

Your opinion is appreciated :)

Lighting is really a matter of personal preference. I would probably go with whatever you are using on your DT so that you can transfer coral in and out of the prop tank without having to worry about acclimating to new conditions. That being said, I would go with a Tek Elite fixture if your choice broke down to those two options. Again, that's personal preference, but the Tek system has a great reputation.

As far as the skimmer goes, if your running a sump (which I most definitely would) then take advantage of using an in-sump skimmer, they are known to produce far better results.

Good luck with the new setup

I'm using t5 on the display, what I'm wondering is will a 6 bulb tek be better than the 8 bulb overdriven with cheap bulbs?

What in your opinion is the best Skimmer around $400?
