MP40 and MP10 instead of two MP40s
My question is whether or not an MP40 on the right side and an MP10 on the left side would allow me to use the different modes well enough (90 gallon tank)? Or do I really need an MP40 on the left side instead of the MP10 for this to work out?
Here is why: I have a 90 gallon tank. I just got my first MP40w ES. I really like it so far and the undertow is amazing. My first impression is that it does best at 100% speed for the waves modes. Unfortunately, the floor picks up the vibration and makes too much noise at this speed (bad insulation, not the products fault). At 75% or so, the sound is fine. Although this seems to be enough flow for my tank, I think another Vortech on the opposite wall would allow me to use it closer to its full potential in my tank. My thought was to put an MP10w ES on the opposite side to save some money. Eventually the idea would be to move the MP10 to the back and get a second MP40, but who knows when that would be. Thanks for your input. |
For most applications an MP40 and MP10 are sufficient for a 90 Gallon, although I would recommend having a pump on all three sides to take full advantage of the EcoSmart modes. Two MP40s and an MP10 would be a good setup as you could dial down the flow on the MP40ws.
