question about attaching bulkhead fitting to rubbermaid can

i'm going to use a rubbermaid garbage can to mix new saltwater and want to attach a pump to the bottom of the can. the pump has a 3/4" MPT connection.

i dont have a 3/4" bulkhead fitting but have several 1" bulkheads. what i want to know is if i drill a hole that size into the side (near the bottom) of my rubbermaid container, will the bulkhead be water tight? or should i wait to get a 3/4" bulkhead?

thanks,
chandan

I put abulkhead in mine with no problems, just be sure you get a nice clean hole and remove all the debris.

Should be fine just make sure it is tight.

uniseals

was always too scared to try to use these uniseals. bulkhead seems safer. if you would care to share your thoughts on the former ...

I've been using uniseals for years on my WC stations. Never, ever had issue.

Uniseals are a completely safe alternative...

Actually they are better for attaching a bulkhead to the side of a container that is slightly rounded. Standard bulkheads should be attached to the bottom where there is a nice, flat surface.
