RC regulations explained

:wavehand: 1. you cannot see the buy/sell thread until you have been here 90 days and have made 50 'meaningful' posts.
Reason: this is to protect the buyer from unscrupulous people who want to get on RC, sell junk or non-existent goods, and fly away with your money; it makes them prove they know something and have contributed something to the knowledge base before they can sell. It also protects honest hobbyists who have some spare stuff to sell from being ripped off by scam artists.
Meaningful post: a post asking or answering serious questions about the hobby. Use your 50 posts to ask some advice about tank size, tank shape, fish list, and to ask about lights. This will assure when you do hit the sale threads, you don't end up buying a large bag of bioballs or an undergravel filter for your tank setup.

2. the tang tank sticky:
Is by no conceivable means a regulation. It's advice, condensed from various tables, and adjusted to the tanks now commercially available, explaining what kind of space you need to keep one of the largest species home hobbyists do keep. Know where you're going, what SHAPE tank you need, between the choice for 'tall' or 'long', etc.
And remember that some good reefers may have a fish they bought under the old advisements: they may have modded their tank by an added sump, modding the rockwork to help, etc: so don't land on their case undeservedly. If the fish is in a tank they bought under the old suggestions, it's probably pretty ok in their hands. What your RC team is trying to head off is the new hobbyist who saw Finding Nemo and internalized some very bad info. We don't want anybody surprised to find that the pretty silver tang they bought becomes the size of Charlie the Tuna.

3. language:
Keep it family friendly. We have very young RC members.
