To Vortech or not

Planning a 27 gallon cube and was interested in using the Vortech MP10es. However, I have never had problems making good waves using just a couple powerheads. So I am conflicted. Either 2 - tunze 6015's or a vortech. Any thoughts or opinions?

I just put 2 mp10es w on my 65. I have never had another controlled system of powerheads before, so I can't say anything about that. All I know is with the 2 mp10s, I can push a button and have rockn waves, push it again and have nice random flow throughout tank. Lower profile than most powerheads, takes up less room in your system and looks nicer! I love my mp10s

I have one MP10WES on my Nanocube 28g. I am really happy with the result, but have never had a Tunze for comparison. I will say the control options have been a great plus for me. The Vortech units really are well designed.

Are your vortech's noisy?

Cannot beat the broad, gentle flow of a vortech.

I only have a MP10WES, and no, it is not noisy. I can't speak to the noise level of a 40 or 60 though.

I have a 40 and it is quiet. I didn't even have to do any fine-tuning when I first installed it. You can hear a low hum when the pump is running at full speed but I can put up with that when I see my corals growing like they have.

What I like is in my system I am going to drill for an overflow and return. So if I use a vortech there will be zero powercords inside the aquarium display. Very minimalistic looking. The tunze would have cords inside. Think I will go with the Vortech. With the black background it should practically disappear.

Two great companies with excellent products and customer service. I prefer the vortech power head and I use a Tunze skimmer pump.

vortechs!!!!!!!!!

Love my vortech mp40. No cords, great flow, corals are happy, I'm happy. One day I plan to add a second one and replace my K4.
