mixing salt with air pumps.

I have an abundance of old, strong air pumps. can i use these with air stones attached to mix salt water? I currently use the pump from an in-tank filter i used to use on a turtle tank but it isnt very strong, and i really dont want to go buy a powerhead if i dont have to. Is there any negatives to using the air stones in this way? Any help or thoughts on the subject would certainly be appreciated.

yes you can, they use less power than water pump and get the job done. I only use pumps if I need it mixed in a hurry.

thank you for your response. i figured it would work i was just worried because i heard air pumps and air stones generally arent good for marine tanks so i assumed the same with mixing salt

I have been doing it that way for over 10 years.
