ATB 840 v2 Skimmer

What do you guys think of this skimmer? Is it worth the money? and if i were to get it I would be putting it on a 100 display, 40 sump. Will that be enough? Thanks!

They are very good skimmers and very few complaints. they're are other choices that are cheaper with simuliar performance. I believe that the price might be dropping due to the fact that they will be shifting to DC pumps.

I have an ATB 840v2 skimmer on my 133 gallon tank and love it. It was a little finnicky at first to find the right water level to keep it in. But once I found that sweet spot, it's been amazing. I would highly recommend it.

I am running one on a 180g tank w/ 75g sump and right now only have 7 fish in it. I took this pic after 4/5 days when it was just finished breaking in and I had only 4 fish in my tank. I am running the ATB 840 v2 and it is AWESOME

What would you recommend for a 100 gallon?

ATB 840 v2. :) The skimmer is very good and on top of that you'll get great customer service from ATB if needed

ATB's are great skimmers perfect balance between pump and neck size, quiet quality built loyal following, because they are good. If you can swing it you won't be disappointed.

Thanks guys. The one im looking at has a Sicce PSK-1000 pump with it. Is that good? And whats a good price to pay for one thats been used under 6 months? Thanks

Probably around 400 I would think. I would almost wait and see what the new Atbs cost with the dc pumps coming out

GSMguy 02/02/2013 10:35 AM

the new DC models wont cost less, the pump is not going to cost less than the PSK1000 that is used now.

I might wait if i already had a skimmer but if i needed a skimmer I would jump on a used V2.

A little off topic...... but what's the advantage of a DC pump?

Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S III

Cheaper than a Laguna? I'm not sure really, except that the same line of pumps could be used in a variety of skimmers in different configurations. no more need to perfectly balance a body to a pump. Now all you do is design a new body style and stick a variable speed pump on there.

I loved mine

When are the new DC models be available? Any one know? I am also thinking of getting an ATB but the delux 8.5 for my 120 sps or I was also considering the new reef octopus pro with the dc controlable pumps wat do you guys think?
