Sick Flame Angelfish
2 Attachment(s)
Hey guys. I recently purchased a flame angel from the LFS last week and until today he was doing great. I noticed that he has is turning a pale color and stopped eating. I put him into the hospital tank and was curious to know what this could possibly be. Posted some pics. Thanks!
Also, all of the other fish are doing fine. Matt |
Well he didn't make it unfortunately. I also wanted to point out that it was almost like he was "shedding" right before he died.

Yea I have no idea why he died. A coral beauty died last week of being pale as well. Guess my 240 isn't big enough for them...lol.

Possibly brooklynella, "shedding" is the main symptom. If you aren't quarantining your fish, you'll eventually bring a deadly and contagious parasite into your DT. I hope this isn't the case; brooklynella is a very deadly and contagious parasite and can wipe out a healthy tank in no time. If this fish went from healthy to looking like this in a week; something serious has happened. Another possibility could be cyanide poisoning when he was collected. Especially if the fish is from Indonesia or the Philippines.

I agree....Brooklynella. I thought my Flame Angel had ich and was treating it with tank transfer. It was eating good and no spots...until I did the transfer one morning and he looked like the picture above. I've been treating with formalin dips so we will see. And for those who do not QT inverts let this be a lesson...the Brook came in on a sea urchin which was drip acclimated for 4 hrs with lots of water turnover. Lesson learned!!!!
