Turning quarantine tank into mantis tank?
How safe is this? I've only ever run it with Cupramine (copper) and Prazipro, which are considered milder medications. I figure cleaning the tank itself should be simple and safe enough, but can I use the HOB filter and powerhead if I soak them in vinegar and wash them off with RODI water? The tank is a 20g tall, with custom stand and canopy (yes, a canopy) and I feel it should be showcased, and I'm opting to turn an old 40g breeder into my new quarantine/hospital tank instead. Lighting : white/blue LED stunner strip (may upgrade to a Kessil down the line) Filtration : Aqueon HOB filter, Coralife biocube skimmer Substrate/Rock : 10 lbs of mature live rock, 20 lbs of Nature's Ocean reef substrate Flow : Koralia Evolution pump ... How's this sound? Thanks guys :wavehand: |
My basic understanding on the topic is that copper is toxic to inverts.
If you used it on the tank, and the tank is glass and has silicone holding it together, then you cannot really use it for anything besides a fish only or a QT tank. Considering how small cheap glass tanks are, I would probably buy a new one and not risk it. |
