How to keep turbos from knocking Gsp off
Hi everyone, I have a little 3x2 mat of Gsp that laid on top of a rock. It opens great but my problem is my turbo snails keep knocking it off the rock and into the sandbed. I tried using epoxy but it won't stick to the gsp's purple bottom. What are some of your recommendations to keep the Gsp on the rock until it encrusts it?
Thanks! |
Rubberband it to the rock until it takes hold

Or you could try a little garlic and butter.

i have to try the rubberband method.
I put garlic and butter, but didn't have the oven hot enough |
Have you tried Loctite glue in gel form? You can take the frag out of the tank, apply a generous amount under it in an area that you know will be in direct contact with the rock and place it back in the tank and hold it there for 5 to 10 seconds.
You will see that the snail will be very disappointed. I agree that the rubber band idea will work in the long term, but it will more than likely live forever in your tank, as the GSP will grow over it and in my opinion, it looks bad. |
I used fishing line to tie mine to the rock. Worked like a charm and slid right out of the GSP when I pulled on it

Rubber band or superglue gel. If you super glue it turn off all flow in the tank for about 10-15 mins and it should hold fine.

I use super glue gel to glue all my corals to my rocks.

Thanks for the responses! I am just a lil afraid if the superglue will effect the tank water. But it looks like it won't from all your experiences.

Any glue that is based on Cyanoacrylate like Loc-tite or maybe even super glue is completely safe for your aquarium. However, please keep in mind that you should use the gel kind. Otherwise, you will see a film of glue on your water when you put the frag into your tank and the fish may be attracted to it.
You will not have that issue with gel. Good luck. |
I tried non gel in the beginning and a drop fell into my tank. My scopas tang bit it and glued his mouth shut . After the fact I can laugh about it but his mouth was glued shut for a couple days, scary!

Gel version. Not the regular
