ro/di for hard water

Hi, I live in an area with very hard water. I'm looking to install an rodi system in my basement that will hook up to your normal hose hookup. First of all, any suggestions on what rodi system to buy? Secondly, any tips for mounting, storing, etc.?

I hope to move up to a 90 gallon soon. Currently I sit at a 29 and the ole' trip to walmart every two weeks to fill up 10 gallons is getting old. Tanks is about 8 months old. Doing well. Having a pain in the neck dark brown algae outbreak on my sand bed. Any advice on that? Water change? Light decrease?

SO yeah...thanks in advance =)

Walmart is probably just RO. Check on-line with BRS. 4 or 5 stage are your best systems. Having purer water will solve some of your issues over time.

I think with hard water, you might want a water softener in front of your RODI or you will go through membrane a lot quicker and waste a lot more water.

What is the TDS of your tap water? Here the TDS is 200-300. I had a 125 and my membrane used to last for years.

I have very hard water here also. I have mine plumbed in after my softener and mounted to the wall. As far as units any from the sponsors here will serve you. Personally I got mine from "The filter Guys".

bulkreefsupply
thefilterguys
airwaterice
buckeye field supply

all have comparable systems..

ditto on having a water softener upstream..
