In the two setups i have had there has always been a snowflake. IME the snowflake has been very docile towards fish in the tank. Even good with shrimp as long as the shrimp is introduced first. But if you do ever redo your aquascape all bets are off, shrimp lasted two days after I moved last year. As for the frequency of feeding the eel, I have had great success with a once every three days feeding routine. Feed too often and it can have negative effects in the long run.
