If you have a new controller it should have an upgrade firmware highlighted on the software. Older controllers is an PITA. As you have to open the fixture and get upgrade module from ATI.
One hour should be enough to clear the controllers memory. Try it. My lights have stalled like this before and unplugging it took care of problem.
It never said device locked.
Is the USB dongle plugged in the controller. I have seen device locked only when usb is connected to computer.

Disconnect the USA cable from the controller switch of for an hour at least if its frozen into the DEVICE-LOCKED mode which is activated when the controller is being accessed from the computer.
An error might have occurred in the connection when it was connected to the computer causing the controller to freeze.
If it does restart up, I'd do a factory reset and then set time and light profile again. Hopefully it will be sorted out after that. Let us know how it goes.
