125 build question

Hi guys,

Been a while since I posted on here...

I am slowing planning a 125 gallon upgrade from my 75. The tank is 72” long 18 wide and I believe 24 deep. It will also have a 40 breeder sump so total volume will be around 155 gallons (I’m guessing only about 30 gallons of water will be in the sump.

Anyways on to my question I’m looking at the Aquamaxx ConeS Q3 skimmer for this build, I’ve had aquamaxx skimmers before and have had great success with them. What I’m wondering, is the Q3 too big for a 125? Rating say 240gal heavily stocked but I’ve read that you should get a skimmer 1.5-2x the volume of your tank.

I don’t want to make the mistake of buying a skimmer that’s too big for my tank and not pulling out all the nasty stuff.

Thanks in advance
