I have used both but I don't remember the cost of the 1" model. I think the WS is only about $50 more and with that you can push 2,000GPH, you get the controller, it is totally silent, and mounting is better in most applications. The only thing is we don't know the longevity of them.

I just got the WS+ and I was told it can handle 3,500GPH+ for $250 from Aq Specialty (RC Sponsor).

I've had about four SS and 2 of them had problems, the other two never had a problem.

I have about 5 or 6 pix in here, but none in operation yet. The WS+ looks exactly the same but apparently has stronger seals. http://homepage.mac.com/dfliger/PhotoAlbum11.html
