Is there any cheap sand anymore?
Hey all…
I was wondering if there is any cheap, safe, sand to use anymore? I read on here about the Oldcastle play sand and such but you can no longer get it. Does that mean we are stuck paying the super expensive prices of the “live sand” like CaribSea from BRS? I was hoping to put like 200 pounds of cheap sand in and then like 60-75# of the live sand to seed it. But I can’t find any safe cheap sand. 👎🏻😕 Thoughts?

I actually almost purchased it for future consideration... found the link that they posted, here it is https://www.petsmart.com/fish/decor-...and-16742.html |

Thank you both. I may not need as much sand as I thought talking with my LFS that really seem to know their way around reefs. But I’ll look into Petsmart and Chewy.

Thanks, ReefinJ.
I just wanted to make sure it wasn't silicate sand as I was reading here that isn't a good way to go. I'm actually reading the "new tank" thread, but it was started in 2003. I know things could have changed since then...I mean that's like 18 years ago. But I figured that a lot of it is still decent info, so that's why I'm going through that massive thread. Figured it probably couldn't hurt. But a lot of references aren't available any longer (such as the OldCastle sand). :-(
