Rene's 75g
I have just recently decided to restart my tank after four years of it sitting empty. I just ordered my first fish, a pair of Purple Firefish, they will be here tomorrow. My DT is still cycling so the fish will be held in my quarantine tank until the tank is ready and I know they are completely healthy. Here are some pictures of my tank & setup!
DT My husband & I modified a 40g breeder as my sump/refugium. Picture from 2011! I will post pictures of my firefish pair tomorrow!

So in anticipation of receiving my Firefish pair today, we got busy last night and made the screen for the QT. I thought it would be fast, but it took a bit longer and more thought than I had originally put into it. Thus enters my son and a product he just bought for his hobbies. Moldable plastic! I have a Penguin bio filter on my QT so we needed to shape the screen to fit around it.
Products is put into hot water to make it moldable: Molded and placed into the ends of the screen frame: Attach other piece and hold for a minute or two. This product cools and hardens very quickly. We placed it in the freezer for a few minutes to speed up the process: The screen was sucking the frame in to much, so we had to glue the corners together and added a cross piece for strength: Finally in place on my QT. My husband and son are awesome! Now I just need my fish!

Purple Firefish - Male & Femal
My Purple Firefish arrived today from Coral Imports. I have to say what a great buying experience. Peter was so helpful and patient with all of my questions.
Without further ado here are my two beautiful firefish!

Great news !! they are so hard to find here in Canada , I have seen one in the last 5 months... it was a store exchange and he was a bit too big for me since I like to get my fish small and see them evolve
Very nice find, they are one of my favorite fishes!

Thank-you! I bought the material to do the screens 5 yrs ago when my tank was first set up, never got around to making them. I decided that I had better get it done this go around since I'm getting fish that like to jump. I'm really enjoying the firefish, we check each other out pretty closely whenever I go in to see them!
