Super Marin 300 Owners
Looking to get mine set up. Does anyone run one in it's own container? Let me know what you are using, trying to find something that will house this skimmer is a bit difficult. Thinking maybe a plastic laundry sink? It's not sexy but I don't want to have something custom built.

Are you saying you do not have a sump to run this skimmer in? How are you going to feed the skimmer?

Thinking about a container to run it into, from. This container to a sump. Reason is I'd like to do a glass aquarium 75 gallon sump but skimmer won't fit in that.

It all depends on what kind of space and dimensions you have to work with. You could certainly add a "skimmer chamber/vessel" that say one of your overflows drains into, skimmer sits in, and then drains into your sump... but your post is very vague to even start to suggest anything sensible.
If you have, post up some pictures of the setup, and what you have to work with. You could get poly containers, or abs crates etc... custom glass and even custom acrycic aren't terribly expensive when kept simple.

I am in process of designing my setup. Doing 60" deep 250 gallon tank in a new house so I don't have much yet other than ideas. I was thinking of a setup like you describe. Is there any reason using a seperate container/chamber would be better or worse than doing in sump?

I really don't have much to post, here is my stand. I have roughly 48 x 30 of space for a sump. I am trying to figure out my sump design, the 300 takes a ton of space and that is why I am considering putting it in it's own chamber.
What I think I really need to do is trade with someone looking to upgrade to the 300 as it's overkill for my setup. |

Yes, it is way oversized, and probably not going to work great for you... with great I mean consistent to where you'll be happy.
The Supermarin 200 would probably be the more optimal choice for you..

Yes, I agree with them. I have a 240 cube with 30 fish and run the double cone 200 on it. It handles the load super easy.

Anyone out there with the 200s or 250 that's looking to upgrade to a 300? Perhaps we could work a deal?
