Ebay T5 Lighting

I know Ive seen these on here before, and I did a search to try to find some articles before posting this question....but no luck. What do you guys think about this fixture......as far as reliablility goes? Its got a pretty good warranty......so it cant be that bad right?

Personally i would not get them. You need to get them from the right people, try getting sunlight supply or aquatinics T5's.

Stick with sunlight supply or aquatinics, you will not go wrong, but then again its all up to you.

What is wrong with them? Is it a known bad company?

Well i would prefer not to say anything, just go around and do some research on the subject about whether or not it is a good investment. Once again stick with either sunlight supply or aquatinics.

The reflectors for one are crap. They don't even wrap all the way around the bulb.....

bluecarpet,
I have done a quite a bit of research on these I haven't found anything on whether they are good or bad...... please enlighten me. I have also checked aquactinics and they do not offer what I need exactly, I want something to install in my canopy but not comfortable with doing all the wiring on a retro myself.
PM me if you need to .

You can put the aquatinics in a canopy as long as you have open area in the back and have holes drilled or vents in canopy for hot air to exit from the fans. Call Tom at aquatinics and ask him if you have concerns.

If I had to guess, I would say that Pet Supply Liquidator has something to do with that ebay auction.. aquariumlights might be just another one of there alias screen names. besides, there feedback looks super sketchy. JMO- look into another supplier.

I will give Tom a shout and see what is up with the lighting. I am limited on the clearance from the top of the acrylic and the inside of the canopy, also I would need two 24" fixtures. I hate the restrictions my tank/set up has and I'm not exactly mechanically inclined with the ability to make necessary mods. thanks for the help though sasscuba

You can put Tom's fixtures right on the glass top. I had them that way and they only raised the temp. about 1 degree. They are designed to be put on glass or legs.

My 36 inch fixtures are only 4 inches tall. How much space do you have?

Prob only 6" or so, it currently has a PC retro installed, but it's GOTTA GO!! So your saying the Aquactinics fixture would be safe to put on top of my acrylic lip? If you had one complaint about your lighting setup what would it be, if there is one?

Thanks for the link on that company, that really helps alot, there's nothing more frustrating than bad customer service especially when you drop several hundred dollars on products that are misrepresented and are crap.

Go with the aquactinics, great reflectors, built in fans and a great company. If you can afford it their solar flare light is awesome (if you need it), there five T5 fixture is great as well (I have a 36 inch version).
