Looking for light fixtures
Just upgrated to a 60 gallon, 48x13x24, and looking for two 24" lights - preferably T5's.
Any suggestions - 4x54 T5, 6x54 T5, or power compact? I currently only have soft corals but would like to get others and not be limited to low light corals. |

a 4 lamp Tek T5 would be OK but I would go with the Aquactinics 5 lamp T5 unit.

A 6x54watt fixture from these guys would rock. You tank might be a little narrow for 6 bulbs though. |

Before I bought the tank I was looking at 48" lights. Now after I have it and it's set up, I'd really like two 24" lights. There's a canopy which opens on both sides on the top and it has a middle divider, so when I'm working in the tank, it's just on one side at a time and I can easily lift the light out on that side to give me room, but I can still see good because the other light is still on. I'm also using the two glass tops on top the aquarium, light fixtures set on them, and the canopy also has two smoke colored glass tops. If I went with a 48" light, I'd have to remove the entire canopy in order to move the light fixture out of the way to have enough access to the tank. Make sense? I'm open to any ideas.....

I would use retro kits rather than fixtures. You can just mount them to the underside of the lids.

They are designed to mount inside a canopy. no sense in paying for nice cases as such if they are going to be hidden in a canopy.

Dunno. Reefgeek.com sells them on-line. Premium Aquatics and Ocean Encounters have them too.
