Thats probably not gonna happen. IMO, the good things on your new rock so far out weigh the bad ones its not really even worth worrying about.

I agree. For every one hitchhicker you have you have hundreds if not thousands of beneficial critters on your rock. Don't worry about it. Deal with the problem when one arises.

That is fine advice until you watch as a hitchiker crab drags your favorite fish into a hole in the rock and kills/eats it. Yes, been there, done that ! Our new tank will be mainly base rock (dry and dead before going into the tank) with some LR that we have had in a separate section of our fuge for the last 6 months to seed (that I am sure is pest free) and some live sand from our current tank to seed the new one's sand bed. The beneficial creatures will multiple on their own soon enough.

Just my opinion, based on past personal experience

I got a mantis as a hitchiker on some LR., got some carnivrious snails too. Just keep and eye on the rock and segregate any suspicious looking critters. Also, if you get any crabs or manis, target feeding them will eliminate thier need to hunt for food, thus keeping your fish safe.
