how high is your T5's off water surface?

Hi all,

I was curious to see how far off the water your T5's are? I currently have them at about 6" and am thinking that is too far.

Thanks,
Steve

About 1.5 inches...

I cut 4 Lexan strips to 2" wide, the glued them to the inside of the tank lip, in order to set the retro-T5 reflectors directly on the Lexan strips, without the fear of my lights ever falling in the water. I have a 72" tank, and use multiple sets of 36" lights, so they are situated to catch the ends of the reflectors at the outer edges and the center of the tank.

I would think that the higher up they are, the more light would be dispersed out to the sides. Mine are 3in above the water. I think you should get them as close as possible without getting salt spray on your reflectors.
