75g high flow fuge. Will it work?

I am putting together a 220g BB tank and starting to work on the filtration. I have a 20g sump connected with the cs8-3 ca reactor etc connected to it, but for the main sump under the tank I will be using a 75g.

Question is can i run 1500gph through it and get any benefit of the dsb, chaeto, rock etc that will be in it? I really don't want to have to section it off etc, but I want it to benefit the tank???

Thanks,
Kyle

Remember the reason for a fuge. To give refuge to the pods and other little creatures. If your washing them away with flow, I think you defeat the purpose. The fuge should be an area of low flow for the tank to receive it's benefits. JMO.

I am really not concerned with the critters per say. If there is rocks I will have critters. I am mainly concerned with the chemical part of removing trates etc. ???

I guess to get the amount of flow needed for that size tank, you would have to have increased flow thru the fuge. As long as that flow ran thru, around and over the rock and thru the macroalgea I don't see why it wouldn't function to help with nitrates and phosphates like it would with a low flow fuge.

You could even consider a separate fuge tee'd off the main drain, and flow like a bad bear thru the sump.

I have considered the seperate fuge, but there is just not any room. I have another tank next to this one and it will just be too much. Anyone else know the reason for low flow? Is it like you said just the critters?

High flow will also stir up the sand.

I have 1 drain coming from my tank. It is split with a T. A pipe goes to my fuge with a gate valve to control (slow) the flow. The rest of the flow goes to the sump/skimmer.

I'm just wondering how the nitrate and phosphate removal will be with that high flow. I won't have it dumping over the sand just baffled to the fuge.
