First timer with Bionic. The directions call for 1ml of Bionic part one and two per gallon of water in tank. My Bionic did not come with a measuring cup and I am trying to figure out the conversion of 100ml to say a table spoon.

I am at 220 now, so I need to increase 190 to 200ppm. 1 ml increases 4ppm. So I am looking at 47.5ml of Bionic. How does that sound.

The biggest syringe I have is 5ml. It would barely fit in the bottle to reach the solution. Perhaps if I can find a bigger one, that would work.

Keep in mind that the dosing rates they give are only an estimation. Each tank is different, so you'll need to do some testing to find the correct dose.

In general, the cap that comes on the 16oz bottles is 5ml.

check your levels, and go from there. if you calc is real low right off do a water change and check again. its very expensive to use b-ionic to raise the calc alot.

Do you recommend something else to get my levels up?

According to the calculator I need to add 122.5 oz ofpart 2 to get my calcium up to 420. I also need 17.5 oz of Part 1 to reach 2.9 meq. As you can see that is alot of Part 2. If that's what I have to do though,then that's what I will do.

I am watchingmy ph. It currently is at 7.9 so I am going to lay low for awhile untilit comes back up.

You can use Turbo Calcium to get the calcium level up to where you want, then maintain with the B-Ionic. The alkalinity can be raised with Arm & Hammer Baking SODA. Use the calculator to dose the proper amount. Remember to not add these chemicals directly to the tank. Dissolve in RO water and dose in a high flow area of the tank/sump. Remember to dose seperately to avoid precipitation.

I will have to see if I have a LFS with Turbo Calcium. Do you know who makes it? As for baking soda that seems easy enough.

Justso I understand you correctly, I would mix up the baking soda in a seperate bucket and then add it. You mentioned ro water, but I assume I can use ro/di to mix it up. Is this correct?

Do I need to add Turbo Calcium to ro/di water or can I just add it to the tank?

Kent Marine makes Turbo Calcium. it can be found here http://www.petsolutions.com/Turbo+Ca...-10266-C-.aspx pet solultions is in Beavercreek OH, so you should get quick shipping or you may be able to pick it up. that would be one way to raise your calcium. i use Prestone Driveway Heat myself. i use it for Randys homemade 2 part. its Calcium Chloride just like Turbo Calcium, but at a fraction of the cost. here Randy recipe http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2006-02/rhf/index.php

i also use baking soda for the alk. however theres 2 ways to do it. if your pH is below 8.2, then you need to bake the baking soda for 1 hour @350ºF. this will drive off the excess CO2 and moisture which will lower your pH if you dont bake it. if your pH is above 8.2 then you dont need to bake it, as you want the CO2 to lower the pH a little. this is all explained in Randys recipe.
