fan noise on a 72 inch hamilton fixture
I have a 72 inch hamilton fixture with 3 mh and two vhos/
the fixture comes with two 80 cm fans Those fans are noisy. I contacted hamilton and they are willing to sqap them out for smaller fans which make less noise but offer less air flow. Question. How do I know if the fans I have are operating within the noise level they are designed to, and will the smaller fans be adequate, (hanliton says they will still warranty everything, but would rather not test thier warranty program and be without lights while they take care of it??? Thanks Bill |

do you have the prostar lighting fixture as that is what I have also and your right my office sounds like the server room where I used to work :-( I am thinking about changing the fans to a variable speed control with temp input so as the temp goes up so does the fan speed. The thing is the fans they use push a lot of air and the air coming out is HOT so I am not going to go to a smaller fan but just reduce the speed when only the PC's are on or just one halide. I will play with this sometime next week.

Please let me know what you figure out.
I do notice that the fan is only on teh switchable ballast that controls the two mh lights. So seperating that circuit to the temp contol circuit will hve to be include a new power source. Bill |

ten yours is different than mine as mine was custom ordered and the fan is on a completly seperate cord from everything else so it will make it easy for me, finding power for the fan though should be no big deal just pull them off of the wires going to the ballast and connect them to their own cord.

Simple maybe, for me, maybe not as simple, and certainly I do not want to do anything that will void warranties.
Keep me posted on your Mod, and also the Thanks Bill |
