Angry Not happy!

After talking to members of rc ans doing my own research i went to my lcal store to order a crosshatch trigger for my reef tank. The first assistant i spoke to hadnt heard of them. The second said they were a nasty fish that killed every thing. I told him they are a reef safe trigger and feed up in the water and because of the angle of their mouths they would have trouble with picking on crabs etc. He still said they were bad news. I asked him if he had any experience with them and i found out he'd never even seen one-what an idiot. I told him about reef central and what i'd researched and he commented "what do you expect from americans?", and laughed at me. I used to thinkl the store guys knew what they were talking about but now it seems not.

you'll get used to it. I rarely take lfs advice unless its someone I truely know and feel comfortable that they know what they are talking about

You're not the only one to feel that way about their lfs. I have one good one here in my area, the others are just out to make money. The biggest problem is that some of these people at the lfs only know what they are told. Nobody is willing to research on their own. I always wanted triggers, but thought they were not reef safe. The lfs that I use corrected me and now I have three. They are wonderful additions to the tank and even feed out of my hand. I still post my questions here first before going to my lfs.

Most people hear "trigger" and automatically assume it will eat everything in your tank.

Insulting an American's intelligence!?!?!?! I'm glad we kicked your English butt in WWI :P

But really, my LFS decides what they will and won't sell you, which is very frustrating when you've done your research.

Richard,

For less money a great reef trigger is a sargassum. They are unique looking and don't get huge.

Webbstock, FYI, we were England and France's Allies in WW1. We helped them kick Germany's butt.

scrmbld33, ever had the pleasure of visiting AbsolutelyFish on route 46 in Clifton? That's one LFS about which I can truly say that they have knowledgable staff and the owner actually really cares about his business.

America and England have been allies ever since the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor.

Guys come on get it straight. It wasn't England’s but we kicked in WWI. I think it was the countries of Britain and UK. I don't remember which. Which one had the Kaiser again? Oh yea.... Ireland. That's in Africa isn't it?

Sorry...... couldn't resist. : )

Cheers to our mate (Richard parry) from across the pond.

I realize a lot of this is said in tongue and cheek, but we do not allow politics here, so I will close this thread.
