Auto Top Off System

I'm rather tired of topping off my tank and want more stability, so I have been considering an auto-top off system. Has anyone had experience with this model or can anyone recommend a model?

I have had mine for several months now and love it. Probably one of the best investments I have made so far. The only thing I dont really like about it is the audible alert when it is filling. Other than that a great system.

I just purchased the DIY Kit from Premium Aquatics and it seems to work very well.

for that price and the price of the pump you're only about $50 away from the osmolator from tunze. i love my osmolator and the calcium dispenser that i made out of a nalgine bottle.

Another vote for the Tunze Osmolator. The optical sensor seems to be a LOT more trustworthy that floats.

I hooked mine up to top off with Kalk and it has had no problems so far.

I hear you about the pain it is for daily top offs. Good move getting an auto top off! If they just made something to automatically clean my skimmer cup for me now...

I'm a bit wary of buying the cheaper models since they don't check if the reservoir is empty before pumping. I wouldn't want my Eheim pump to burn up! I think I will probably go with the ATO model since the Tunze doesn't appear to offer enough improvements to merit the 75% higher cost.

Any one that has a DIY float switch should make sure they are using a relay other wise you may get a deadly shock someday.
