Stubborn Algae - Glass vs. Acrylic

I am getting stubborn algae growths throughout my tank that are circles of green or lavender.

They are very difficult to scrape off of the acrylic.

Is there a way to stop the growth of these algae circles?

Or would I have an easier time removing them from a glass tank?

See the pictures below...

thats coralline. Some people like it, some people hate it, some people would kill for it. Get a kent marine scraper, my brother just got one and it looks like it works great. Either way it takes some elbow grease to get it off.

It's much easier with glass tanks since a razorblade takes it right off. If you find something to get it off without scratching the acrylic too badly, regularly cleaning it before it gets out of hand like that will make life easier on you.

Whatever you do, don't use a razor blade on the acrylic. Use an old credit card to scrape it off. Razor blades are only 'glass safe'.
