Identify equipment please
Does anybody know what this is, and what it's used for? This is a PIC of the top, and bottom.

looks like cooling fan to me, maybe goes in the canopy...

It looks like the base for some type of hang on filter. I suspect that the round disc is a magnet that revolves when you turn it on. I had a similar filter years ago. The impeller was inside the filter housing and that thing (the base) slipped on the bottom of the housing and powered the impeller.
May have been from a Skilter filter but I really don't remember. Without the rest of the filter it's fo no use. Interesting though. Haven't seen one in many years.

Thanks. I thought it was part of something else too. When I turn it on the little fan inside ccomes on, but it barely puts out any air, or I would surely install it in my canopy.
