Miracle Mud

Not sure if I'm on right forum.
Got 20 lbs of Miricale Mud that has been used 6 months.
Should I rinse the mud before use?
What are your opinions on Miracle Mud in general.

I've never used it personally, but the reactions I get from those who have say it's really not worth the extra money. But again, just word through the grapevine. Wouldn't hurt to rinse it, but that may remove some of the stuff in it that would make you wanna use it to begin with.

I don't know about rinsing it as it is very fine, like silt at the bottom of a lake.

I have 30 lbs of it in my fuge. It seems to make a great living space for fuge critters, but I'm not really sure it's doing much as far as the tank goes. I will not be replacing it when it expires.

Can it be used as substrate?

I would not use it as a substrate in the main tank. The consistency is much too fine and would probably make a cloud every time a fish swam near the bottom. Forget about powerheads; you would have a tank that looked like it was the Mississippi river.
