I want to purchase The Conscientious Marine Aquarist for my continued reseach on my classroom tank. I find that there are two editions, the older paperback and the newer and much more expensive hardback. My question is: are there substantial updates in the hardback or is it just prettier? I'd rather spend the money on more live rock or a better skimmer but, I know information is my most powerful tool so...
What are your guys' and gals' thoughts?

I believe you're fine with the older copy and I would suggest one of Fenner's other publications or even one of the other popular authors out there.
Calfo Borneman Sprung Michael The book in question runs about $25-27 on Amazon.com and a decent skimmer (depending on the size of the tank) will run a substantial amount more; it can be the difference between a fair or a good skimmer I guess.
