thinking of converting wet/dry....

has anyone converted their wet/dry to a refugium? I have a sealife systems 75 or 125 and am thinking about converting it into a refugium.
would i be able to convert it without a lot of work or would i be better off just building one from scratch. I dont really want to build from scratch. i think it would be easier for me to just remove the bioballs and filter sponge in the wet/dry and add an algae and sandbed rather than going through the pain of building a new sump out of another tank.
give me any advice. i am seriously thinking about making the change to try and get my nitrates down to 0 ppm in my 55gal tank.
