flow question

I am new to the hobby and was wondering if adding a aquaclear 110 would add to much flow to my tank. I have a 26 gallon bow front with an eheim 2232 (127gph) and a aquaclear 30 (174gph) powerhead. The reason I was asking was I am planning on primarily going to keep lps in my tank. I have seen a mod to make this filter an aquafuge to keep my micro algae down. Let me know what any of you guys think. also thanks in advance.

i use a aquaclear 110 also i love the water movement it make on the surface but a 110 sounds way to big to put on a 26g
i would go with a smaller one like a 50 or the 70 at max
and the only filter i fun in mine is the carbon

i disagree. a 110 would be a perfect size for a fuge, and then you can throttle it back a bit.

But right now you're only at 301gph. You should at least be at 20 times turnover per hour, which for your tank is 500 something.

So imo add the big ac filter and just throttle it back. And besides, it doesnt give a forcefull jet like a powerhead does anyways. IMO the flow that the AC filter gives is a much better flow than a powerhead gives.

thanks for the info. sirdude i think i have read what you are talking about. I saw somewhere that your tank should turn over anywhere from 20-30 times. Does yours seem to bother your percs? I have two and a yellow watchman goby, and they are important to my wife. I really like them but I am looking forward to building up my coral - softies and lps.

ya right now i'm at like....27 times (i think) and i'm thinking about adding another seio 620 which would be over like 35. But seio's arent a forceful, concentrated, violent flowing powerhead like aquaclears and maxijets (have both, hate both ).

As for the clowns, they love it. The fish all find the "quieter" spots quick enough and know where they can rest. Adding more flow will not harm them at all. If anything they'd enjoy floating around a bunch lol.
