looks like a Pagoda coral, Turbinaria Peltata, it is a LPS type coral. Moderate light, moderate flow. Feeds mainly off of trace elements, but will accept brine shrimp and phyto type foods.

That is a Turbinaria (Pagoda Coral). They come in a plate and branch form. It has intermediate lighting needs. Zooxanthellae are hosted within this coral so it mostly feeds of lighting. Although you can give the polyps pieces of chopped seafood. Also likes moderate flow. HTH. Not to sound like an *** but you should really research your corals before you buy them. Ive been there before. It will help out your wallet in the long run.

I knew that it was an Lps and the basics about it, I wanted to know if there was any special type of care it needed. I usually do research everything but you tell me what im supposed to do when im at a LFS thats 60 miles away from my computer? I ask the LFS and I had to take whatever they said as true. I've never seen One this large or this bright before. I've been to a ton of shops some that one being the furthest away from me and had never seen anything like it. sometimes you gotta take a chance....

that's a really nice bright yellow coloration, usually they aren't that hue. Generally they are tanish. Slow growers though, and make sure you have enough water circulation around it because setteling sediments can cause the tissue to clog up and die, causing dead spots.

I didn't think they came in yellow, "naturally". I think it may be dyed?

trust me..it came from sharkys reef. I HIGHLY doubt that they would even buy dyed corals or fish. I have alot of faith in that place.

ok so what if it was dyed though...how long does that last? How can I avoid buying any "dyed" corals not knowing every color and hue in the ocean?

Even though it is obvious that it isn't , I believe it is most commonly considered a SPS.

They are one of the more bullet proof corals. Very easy to care for and hard to kill.

I second that. I've got a couple of them and really enjoy them.
