Multiple pygmy angels?
I remember reading somewhere that Angels of the same body shape might fight with each other. That being said how different do their shapes need to be in order to be safe? We like the look of a bi-color angel but we currently have a coral beauty. That being said our LFS has a coral beauty in the same tank as a flame angel. They seem to have very similar body shapes (and seem to get along). Does anyone have experiences keeping other angels with coral beauties? Would the bi-color get along ok with it? Or are there other small angels that would work better?
Thanks!

That is a good question and I wish I had a good answer. The best I can say is "it depends on the fish". I've kept dwarf angels in the same tank without ever having a problem.

Thanks Waterkeeper. I guess it’s a matter of luck and/or happiness of the fish.

There was a thread a couple days ago with the same question. Most people said the Bi-color could be difficult with othe Angels.
Flame and CB would probably be OK. The other factor is tank size. I decided against a 2nd one because my tank was only a 75g. Probably want something over 100 g to keep 2

Nick, I was told that Bi-Colors are hard to keep with other small angels, as I was told by RC and my LFS that Bi-Colors tend to get more aggressive then Coral Beautys, Flames, and others.
My LFS keeps Coral Beautys, Flames, and Lemon Peels in teh same tank together. He tells me he's never had a problem doing so, and so far, this particular pet shop has not led me astray. RC told me that if I added say a Flame and a Coral Beauty at the same time I should be fine, but I never really did hear about if I added them at different times, what could happen. I think Water Keeper is right. I think it depends on the fish, but based on what I;ve seen and heard so far, I think I'd stay away from teh Bi-Color since you already have the Coral Beauty, but a Flame or a Lemon Peel might do very well with your Beauty. Hope that helps.

liveaquaria.com reports that Flames, Coral Beautys, Bi-Colors, and Lemon Peels, only require about 30g's.
All are reported to be semi-aggressive. I really don't think there would be an issue adding a second angel in a 75 space wise. I would just want to make sure they would get along

I know my Coral Beauty is a wimp. That makes me a bit concerned about adding a bi-color if they can be a bit more agressive compared to other Angels.
Thanks for the info...

Good Info Steri. There is a TON of info out there and of course it does not always match up. The great thing about a forum like this is you can get real world experiences. Of course those will vary base on a fish's "personality". Example, I read that a long nose hawk could eat shrimp. After posting here I was told I should be ok. I put one in and he has not touched my CB shrimp.

I would imagine it also depends on the size of the Coral Beauty. They are one of the larger dwarfs.

I only thought they had agricultural extension agents in Wooster.
I agree here. With the smaller dwarfs a 30 might house one but never a pair. Just not enough turf.

I not an expert, but here's my 2 cents worth. I added a CB to my 120, then added a Flame about a month later. They get along fine. They both like the rocks so I made sure both had ample hiding places. Also it seems the only time the pick at each other (or should I say the Flame picks at the CB) is when my circ pumps are off for an extended period of time. (they act bored)

Not unusual Michael, I had a Flame and Coral Beut in the 130 for over six years. As I said, "It depends on the fish".
