Tank Equipment Re-Evaulation
I would like to re-evaluate my tank and get your opinions on what, if anything, I should upgrade or change.
Here's my hardware specs: Oceanic 46g Bowfront. No sump 2x96 watt Power Compact fixture. 10k bulb and actinic bulb. On for 11 hours a day. Emperor 280 HOB filter Seaclone 100 HOB protein skimmer AquaClear 30 Powerhead MajiJet 900 Powerhead Coralife Pure-Flo II RO. 50 gpd 3-stage Temp. is about 75 in the winter, 80 in the summer. How's aeration? I figure the filter, skimmer, and 2 powerheads have enough water movement that I don't need any other aeration. I change 5 gallons once a week, then add a cap-full of iodine, trace elements, calcium, and Amquel+ water detoxifier. Here's a pic of my tank: ![]() |

Emperor 280 HOB filter==>> Get rid of the filters and wheels and just use it for flow.
Seaclone 100 HOB protein skimmer==>> throw it in the trash and invest your money here. You will get more value out of a good skimmer than anything else you will purchase for your reef.
