seio pumps catching fish
I added two seio 2600's to my tank last month. I've got my large foxface, he lived, stuck on it and just lost a clown tang, about the size of a business card. Anyone else have this happen and how can I stop it from happening again?

I doubt a healthy foxface would just get stuck to a powerhead (or a clown tang for that matter). Did you see them get sucked up or just find them that way?

Since it's the SPS forum, put an encrusting SPS over all the holes to completely shut down the pump?
Your best bet would be the equipment forum.

Many fish will use a pump as a "bed" so it is possible for a fish to become stuck.

pull off the flow adjusting collar too..it makes the intake way too restrictive.

seio placement
i asked admin. to move this to equipment thread area.
BUT, do you think the placement of the seio's is good for my 135 gal. oceanic tank? the two 2600 on the ends toward the front, and the other seios in the back facing to the front? someone said I should take the covers back off the seio 2600's? I only put them on to stop fish from getting sucked in.

Your choice, more flow, and less fish, or less flow, no losses.

Happened to me as well with 2 - 1500s. Yellow tang just didn't see it coming. The way I stopped it from happening was by exchanging them for mj's and aquaclears.

A healthy fish should not get caught in the seio

My two baby false percs sleep on top of my MJ900 in my hex tank. I just ordered 2 Seio 1500's for my 75! I hope none of my fish get sucked up! I'll probably run the pumps restricted anyway, so it shouldn't be a problem.
