full arm length gloves for a woman, that work?

Need some advice here everyone.

I really perfer to wear gloves when working in my tanks, other then the frogspawn, anemones, and scary giant blueish bristle worm thing I spotted once I also tend to get itchy/rashy if I mess around in there w/o them.

However I can't find anything that works well. I have those big blue/orange coralife I think they are gloves... sure they keep me dry but they are impossible for me to do anything with, I can't pick things up, making them virtually useless.

I bought cheapo disposable orange gloves on ebay, after about 1 min in the tank they are leaking and my hand/arm is soaked.

My current solution is to put on the cheapo ones and then put a pair of medical gloves and a rubber band around my wrist. Yes I stay dry, yes I can grab anything I want as they fit very close to my skin... however either I start losing circulation in my hand from the rubberband or it's to loose and water gets in making a balloon effect.

I need another solution that will fit my hands (not overly small/delicate or anything, but definitely not fit for those big orange/blue things)

I heard of Atlas Nitrile gloves, are they any better? Does anyone know of disposable ones that are seamless?

THANK YOU!

I could not agree more about the Coralife gloves. They might work well for moving large pieces of live rock around. But if you have to hold anything smaller than a basketball, they're entirely useless.

I currently use the rubber band/ latex glove solution, too. But I've heard there are full arm-length latex gloves available at vets.

Thanks for the reply

Anyone have any experience with the nitrile gloves? Are they as useless as the coralife ones or better? Maybe I'll google vet supplies... my fear is they are just like the cheapo orange ones I bought on ebay (seams that split in a min or so).

Maybe also check hunting stores, you may be able to find a pair of field dressing gloves that will work for you. They usually go all the way up to your shoulder.

Hi,

I use the field dressing gloves I get from my local Hunting/Fishing store(Gander Mountain). I put on the arm length glove then the latex glove over that. I still get some water in but I don't have any direct skin contact with things in my tank. The blue nitrile gloves might be a good alternative over the shoulder length field dressing glove. The nitrile gloves are about the same feel/thickness as latex gloves. I will have to give that a try next time.

Dave

Try these:

I use them. They're thin, so I usualy double glove them to avoid holes.

I'd try some gloves made for vet. medicine, like polysem gloves.

I would agree...I once watched a man artificially inseminate a cow...the glove goes all the way up to your shoulder...

If I was a doctor I swear - just once - I would HAVE to put on the shoulder length glove before the prostate test...

Just to see the fear in the eyes...

I agree on the Coralife gloves

Now I use the standard yellow ones you buy for cleaning around the house. They are NOT elbow length though.

I'm going to get a pair from my vet and toss them on the exam table. Then I'm going to pick the right patients that always have jokes for me and see if I can get a "importance of regular prostate exam" discussion going while I casually pick the glove up and start messing with it.
