Do you know if Home Depot or Lowes sell threaded strainers?

I would recomend tru union ball valves. That way you can close the valve and disconnect a piece of equipment for cleaning or any other reason. It will make life easier on you.

I just need a bulkhead to overflow from my refugium into my sump. But I will definitely use a union valve if I ever hook up any equipment to pvc.

Lowes does not have threaded strainers or any kind of bulkhead fitting. I would order that stuff online.

The ball valves in Home Depot and Lowes are garbage compared to the ones that Savko sells.

I have also found that Ace Hardware has a better selection than the other two big guys.

For one, they have the true union ball valves which is a big plus being able to disconnect either side of the ball valve. The main reason for me is that they turn so much easier. The white ones with the red handles are so damn tough to turn. With most of us using sch40 bulkheads, the Savko ones you can turn with one hand. Im always worried that Im going to tear a bulkhead off my tank when I try to open or close the ones from HD and Lowes.

With a 1" bulkhead, if I get one that is slip to thread will I need a 1" strainer?
