From looking at that tangs body structure, I don't think that is a vlamingii. My guess would be it is a unicorn tang (Naso brevirostris)

I looked at pictures of two fish on marine depots site and the fish I have looks closer to the vlamingii's then the unicorns.

The mouth structure gives it away as a unicorn. Unlike vlamingiis, they will not eat larger pieces of food (krill), you have to feed several times a day with mysis to keep them fat, and make sure there is always nori present it the tank (your yellow tang might benefit from that also, just constructive advice, it is dangerously skinny). Did you QT the powder blue before adding it?

These are two fish from my best friends tank, He's always out of the state on business and his family has been watching his tank, so he told me I can have them or they will starve to death so this is basically a rescue. I know I should have QT'd hem anyway but I didn't.

if they are out of a friends tank, no worries on the QT - he has pretty much done it for you. When powder blues come from the wild, they almost always get ich, but once acclimated to captive life, they are fairly hardy fish (but mean as hell!). You should tell your friend to buy some goldfish

Here is a picture of one of my unicorns - this is a different species to yours (Naso hexacanthus), and he is about 1.5' .
. He does not develop the "horn" like yours could (once you buy the 2000 gallon tank). You can often tell species by the number of "blades" (caudal peduncle) at the base of their tail. |

Hey!, My wife want's to know how big of a tank WE will be needing to house these big fish that WE now own? Give me your honest opinion, then lie and I'll delete the smaller one.

I think a 240 would be the entry level size for those guys. The 8' run will make them happier. But due to aquascaping issues, I would go for the 8' long X 30" deep X 24" high!

I am not a member of the "tang police", but in order to get unicorns to look good, and to be able to feed them what they need, in the long run nothing les than 1000 gallons, otherwise you are going to have an emaciated fish on your hands.

Does that mean that she can be considered an adult when she's 16?.... Yea a 1000 gallons won't go over well with the misses, She knows 500 gallons is in my future with a fish room but a 1000 gallon would also have to be part of my bachelor pad.
