Octopus Skimmer question

Today I just bought the Octopus NW150. My question is, does it take awhile for it to start fully foaming? Like with my old ETSS downdraft skimmer, if you feed the fish or even putting your hand in the water the skimmer the foam would go down. I just don't want to leave the house and the skimmer starts to flood.

Just like any skimmer there is a break in period. My NW150 started skimming within a couple of days, I did however run a water & vinegar solution for 2 days to get rid of any residue that it "might" have and it breaks it in faster.
Set the riser low if you leave, that way you won't have a mess. Bring it back up when your home, do this untill you feel it's broken in. shouldn't be more than a 2 to 5 days.

Just give it a few days...I just bought a cheap finnex skimmer off ebay to try out, and to supplement my prizm. It was running for most of last week with no skimmate...I was worried just like you are. Then last night it started to foam and has been going strong all day.

I have one of those; mine started skimming in like a couple of hours, I LOVE IT!

This picture is the result of only 24 hours when I started ciclying my tank with uncured LR.
