The material is a lower quality and is all around cheaper built. That being said, if I needed a skimmer and that fit the bill, its not a bad deal in the least...
Just understand its not the high quality materials usually used by ER. |

from what i heard its just the type of acrylic the use being a lower quality and you cant inject ozone into extruded acrylic but otherwise even though its a lower quality acrylic its still built very well from what i understand

Extruding is pretty strong and as strong as clear cast. Get the extruding if your not using o-zone.... don't think u can with that skimmer anyways. Extruding is also a lot less in cost wise anyways...... ( 1/8'' thick )
5'' extruding- $8.45 a foot on average 5'' clear cast- $22.73 a foot on average |

I concur with the still well built statement. Mine is very well built. It looks perfect and performs very well.
Side by side there is no way to tell the difference between the extruded and the cast. This has been addressed in the past when a forum member asked how to ID a used skimmer as to which material was used. The consensus was that visually there is no real difference. |

I have one with no complaints. Seems sturdy to me, and I've had to move mine around quite a bit in the sump.

The acrylic is of the same quality as that normally used by EuroReef, its just not the same type. If you had an extruded RS80 and a cast RS80 sitting next to each other you would not for the life of you be able to tell which is which, nor would their awesome performances differ whatsoever.
I'd jump on the deal if it fits your system; I did so 3 months ago and couldn't be happier. |
