Not sure if this is possible but i was reading this article by Julian Sprung and i found this
"Strong lighting may cause them to curl the oral disc, and even bleach (lose pigment and zooxanthellae). I have been able to reverse this bleaching with the addition of a trace element supplement containing iron and manganese that I found promotes the health of zooxanthellae. My observations in this regard are anecdotal" Here is the Article:AQUARIUM INVERTEBRATES Can anyone shed some light on this topic for me.

I also heard UV light increases the surface of the temperature of the coral. This can cause it to bleach with high water temps adding more stress. Interesting that iron would be a reason.
Well macro algae can be prevented of sporulation(sorta like bleaching) by adding iron. Phytoplankton use maganese and zinc for enzyme production. So it does not surprise me this is a prevention. As zoox are algae too.

All I know is some cells are still present and given proper care they will grow back. But there are many problems to bleaching. One of them could be as simple as no food like Po4, No3. Decreasing the photo period can reverse it by allowing more No3, Po4 to be available without the added export of long photo periods. But above that I dont know much.
Hopefully somone will chime in with some news.
