Where to drip Calcium reactor??
OK, I have a calcium reactor (cheap DIY job....in planning stages of making a bigger one myself) and it drips into the skimmer chamber of my sump/fuge.
The problem is that my ASM skimmer venturi intake keeps getting clogged up with calcium deposits and looses performance. I think the Ca reactor is to blame. I want the drip in the skimmer chamber to blow off extra CO2, but not at the cost of skimmer performance. I could drip it into the fuge, but worried about overgrowth of algae. Could go into the return chamber but then I would be worried about a drop in tank pH which is been stable as a rock with current setup. Any ideas or input????

Salt spray is to blame. I doubt the Ca reactor is making any difference.
But I have mine dripping in the "return" chamber.

agreed... I drip mine in the fuge... then into the sump it goes...
Why would CA have any effect on algae growth?

I drip mine in the "drain" area of the sump. Lots of agitation to aid in co2 burnoff.
BTW, overgrowth of algae in the fuge is good, regardless of how you obtain it!! That's what it is there for, right?? |
