Are there any reef safe eels?
I would like to start a 75 gallon reef tank but want an eel as well.
Thanks |

I think the problem with eels is that they tend to eat whatever they can fit in their mouth. I've kept snowflakes before and they seem to be the most docile of the bunch and was a good tank mate. Just make sure you don't have any other fish that are too small. I had a Mexican Dragon eel that ate anything it could get a hold of. Mean sucker!

Snowflake eels won't harm corals or anemones, just mobile animals.

Bigger than the eels mouth.
A Snowflake it not very aggresive, as are most rounded tooth eels. They can be kept with most fish. Avoid the sharp toothed eels which are more predatory,

Isn't there a dwarf golden eel. Max size is about 12" - I believe it is a moray. Someone can correct me. Very hard to find and expensive if you do.

One disclaimer to the snowflake. I'm not sure how they interact with shrimp.

Once again it depends on the size of the shrimp. A big snowflake will probably create a shrimp free zone.
