Questions Upgrading to New Tank

I currently have a well estabilished 55 gallon system, which has the following inhabitants: 100lbs liverock, live sand, 3 clams, 1 purple tank, clownfish, various sps and lps corals. I am building a new 150 gallon tank which I want to transfer the inhabitants of my current tank to. How should I do this? Should I buy some liverock for the new tank, to cycle it, then transfer all water and inhabitants from old tank to new? Anyone have any good suggestions. Fortunately I will be able to keep both systems operating during the transition period. Thanks for the input

When I setup my new tank I took most of my rock from established tank to cycle the new tank. There was virtually no ammonia or nitrite spikes. I still allowed about a month for the water to mature. I suppose there are a couple ways that you could do it though.

I went from a 45 to a 150. Luckily the new tank was going in a different location. This allowed me to set up, leak test and get levels good before moving day. I used Carib Sea LS in new tank and spiked ammonia for a week. I then added about 40 lbs LR that I cured in my garage. Immediately moved everything else over without any loss. I suspect if I had not used LS I probably could have done it all much sooner. One thing I did not move was the LS from my old tank. I just took a few cups from the top layer to innoculate the new system.
