Over feeding an sps tank
After reading this months tank of the month and alot of other articles i am wondering why a tanks water has to be so clean for SPS. I keep SPS and i have undetectable everything. Why does it seem like some ppl want dirtier tanks. Thanks.

Just because someone feeds more does not make their tank "dirtier".

It's just more food for the SPS. Since he has a well setup system that poop is utilized by other organisms in the tank rather than just building up somewhere. Despite what many people think, photosynthetic corals still need "food" to thrive.

You should also see where he states his high flow and aggressive skimming keep the detritus, or fish poop in this case, suspended and therefore possible to remove before they break down into harmful compounds.
Like he stated, he thinks its the 'temporary filth' that led to his success. This does not equate to a dirtier overall tank. |
